Ciao dear Creative! Thanks for stopping by. My name is Vanja Barbul, and I'm the founder of BARBULIANNO Design– home to Earth-Friendly Interiors and Local Homeware Makers.
When I was little my mum always used to tell me I’m a dreamer with my head in the clouds. It's safe to say – that hasn’t changed much.
Here goes my journey...
Growing up, I use to love spending days at grandma's. She lived in a small village where it was pretty much safe to wonder of wherever (as a kid that's pretty much all you want). I remember that period of my life so vividly, where I would fillup with goodies an old woven basket my grandma used for grocery shopping, sit on a bike and look for the perfect picnic spot. On other days, my friend would come over, and we would plan on building a house using nothing but branches, dried grass and mud (big projects, you know). I remember one of those "projects" was a treehouse where I even managed to bring a small rug to cosy up space. I was so proud of it!
Gradually, without realising, my bond with nature and design became unbreakable. Did you know - just by spending time in nature it significantly increases your mood, reduces stress levels, helps you be more active and build connections with confidence. It's the best wellbeing booster you could get for free.
Maybe you don't think about it often, but your home is a natural projection of your mind. It's a place where you should feel safe, relaxed and happy. It should mirror your true self. And what's the better way of achieving a healthy home than bringing nature indoors. It's not that complicated. By carefully choosing materials, maximising natural light, organic shapes, textures and greenery, you can create a home that will love you back.
Implementing Sustainable, Biophilic or Eco-Friendly design to your entire home can be a daunting task. The most asked question is, where do you even start? Creating a greener home takes time, research, and understanding of what you hope to achieve. And the reason why it takes time it's because you are pivoting your mindset with it, and that doesn't happen overnight. It's a slow yet rewarding process, so give yourself time to learn and don't forget to enjoy the journey.
I found that chasing a career in a traditional sense just didn't cut for me. It always felt like some deeper meaning to it was missing. In 2019 I created BARBULIANNO to inspire people to decorate their home the green way. It makes me so happy that I can share all of it with you through the Articles, Mood Boards and Sustainable Home Styling Service. My mission is to create fresh decorating ideas for your home - where you can take an endless vacation from the world.
I'm a big believer that learning never ends, and we should try to learn every day something new. I completed the Interior Design Course at HSC Oxford Home Study - endorsed under the ABC Awards and Certa Awards Quality Licence Scheme. This course gave me extensive knowledge of what's needed to achieve a healthy, functional and beautiful home.
